Certification & Minor

Brigham Young University offers a certificate and minor in Gerontology.

*A change in policy has been made.  Students are now able to double count classes for both their minor and their major.  This makes it easier for students to minor in Gerontology.

Requirements: 15 credit hours selected from core required and elective courses.

  • RMYL 496R (3.0-12.0)
  • Other internship approved by Academic Advisor

At the conclusion of the internship, students are required to fill out this Internship Report Form.

  • MFHD 334 Aging in the Family (3.0)
  • RMYL 307 Accessible Recreation (3.0)
  • Soc 365 Sociology of Aging (3.0)

*If you take HLTH 466, you must either take 1 more internship credit hour or 1 more elective to ensure that you complete 15 credit hours.
